Following last year's inaugural event , this year's MK Festival of Cycling 2026 was another great success. Cllr Marie Bradburn, MK City Council's new Active Travel Champion (left in picture below) said: "15 events in different locations across the city involving hundreds of residents during MK's hottest week ever - that's what I call a success!"

The week began with the Summer Solstice Ride from Station Square to the Light Pyramid in Campbell Park.

Each day of the week offered different rides, including Breeze and Ride & Shine rides for women, free Dr Bike services, the MK Bikeability Olympics competition between primary schools hosted by Stantonbury Leisure Centre, a marathon fund-raising ride led by Manchester United Foundation passing through Stadium MK, Health Rides organised by The Parks Trust and a Mayor's Cycle Ride through the city centre.

“We’re proud to be members of Cycling Citizens MK and were pleased to have added three events during the Festival week," said David Lewis, Recreation Coordinator for The Parks Trust (selfie photographer below). "Our Health Rides and monthly Parks and Ride events are a great way to get cycling, and we loved sharing them with a new audience!”

MK Mayor Paul Trendall officially congratulated participants, in front of an audience of 50 in the garden behind Civic Offices, and presented awards to companies gaining most points for cycling and walking in Love To Ride's 'Roll & Stroll' month. On the last Saturday, 30 riders took part in a Cake & Coffee ride across Central Milton Keynes.

The ride stopped first at MK YMCA and then at the MK Rose.

The ride ended at Coffee Hall for the 'Wheelie Big Picnic' organised by Woughton Community Council. There they enjoyed various cycling games and activities, including a pump track, obstacle course, live music and the handout of free bikes to the children of Woughton Ward in partnership with Cycle Saviours, with free snack packs and drinking water for those who ride or walk, sponsored by GXO.
