Super Redway rating survey - citizens science in action

Led by Rob Rieke and Deborah Cooper of MK Cycle Forum, and supported by MK City Council, the Super Redway rating survey is yielding powerful results.
Using a survey tool developed by Colin Bownes, who leads leisure rides around the city for MK City Council, a growing team of about 10 volunteers give marks out of 10 for each of seven categories of Redway quality: Flow, Surfacing, Detritus, Wayfinding, Junctions, Landscaping and Underpasses. The team meets monthly on a Tuesday afternoon to survey a different Super Redway, and individuals are encouraged to enter data for any additional section at any time - the more data collected, the more reliable the aggregate result and RAG-rating.
When sufficient data is gathered for a given Super Redway, the results are shared with MK City Council to help it prioritise improvements. The draft map above shows results from 166 responses so far, covering 47 Super Redway sections, of which four appear very good and four critically bad.

If you are free and willing to volunteer an hour or more to surveying one or more sections of a Super Redway, please sign up here, where you'll also receive a link to the online survey, easily accessed from your phone, succinct briefing information and a contact number for any questions.
